After four months in office, José Perurena-Lopez describes his experiences as the President of the International World Games Association.
Summarizing what will be crucial in taking The World Games on to the next level, he stresses:
“Working in cooperation with the IOC is not only desirable, it is essential.“
You’ve been four months in office, how would you describe your first experiences as President of the IWGA?
My first impressions have been very positive. We are working towards the World Games that are attuned to the Olympic Games and will be able to show that the World Games have disciplines that have the same quality and interest as the Olympic disciplines.
Furthermore, the cooperation between the Headquarters and the Executive Committee has been very positive since my first day. It is easy to work when everybody is engaged and committed to the project.
How did the world of sports react to your election in Belek in April?
I think they reacted very well. I received a lot of support from all the member federations of the IWGA and other associations like the IOC, SportAccord, ARISF and ASOIF. I also received support from many IOC members and the media. This support makes me feel even more involved in the development of our multi-sport event. And as I said before, I have an Executive Committee with great working capacity and involvement in the project.

Nanjing 2014 începe !
Aici este tot ceea ce ați dorit vreodată să știți despre cea de a doua ediție a Vară pentru Tineret Jocurile Olimpice, un eveniment spectaculos sportiv de 12 de zile pentru tinerii sportivi care vin din întreaga lume pentru a celebra valorile olimpismului.
Acesta a fost la 10 februarie 2010, chiar înainte de XXI Jocurile Olimpice de Iarna de la Vancouver, că membrii CIO au ales Nanjing ca oraș gazdă pentru cea de a doua ediție a Vară pentru Tineret Jocurile Olimpice.
Fondata mii de ani în urmă, pe malurile râului Yangtze, și situat în provincia Jiangsu din estul Chinei, Nanjing este acasa, la aproximativ opt milioane de oameni, care se pregatesc acum pentru a gazdui cel mai mare eveniment sportiv internațional al istoriei sale. Un oraș universitar important, Nanjing are multe de oferit vizitatorilor, parcuri verzi nu în ultimul rând luxuriante, lacuri superbe și munți, și o serie de site-uri culturale importante, printre care zidurile sale antice și numeroase monumente istorice.

Au început Jocurile Olimpice pentru tineret 2014 de vară pentru tineret de la Nanjing
Jocurile Olimpice au început în astăzi în Nanjing, China, cu o ceremonie de deschidere pulsatorie care s-a răspândit rapid în întreaga lume datorită a mii de selfies luate de către sportivi și spectatori, la cererea Comitetului Olimpic Internațional (IOC) Președintele Thomas Bach.
În adevăratul spirit al Jocurilor Olimpice de Tineret (YOG) IOC ajuns la cele 42 de milioane de fani, precum și urmașii lui spectatorilor și sportivii din stadion. Președintele CIO Thomas Bach a vorbit direct cu cei 3800 de tineri sportivi care participă la Jocurile Olimpice de la Nanjing Sports Centre pentru a le încuraja să împărtășească acest moment.
"Dragi sportivi tineri, acestea sunt jocuri voastre. Acesta este momentul tau. Deci, tinerii sportivi, te rog sa mi se alature: Să ne captura - asa ca telefoanele inteligente afară și să stabilească un record pentru selfies, "Președintele Bach a declarat, înainte de a fi insotit pe scena de cinci sportivi yog - Lilia Maamar (ecvestru) din Maroc, Jaheel Hyde (Atletism) din Jamaica, Dilixiati Dilana (baschet) din China, Ivana Jorovic (tenis) din Serbia, și Gabrielle Fa'amausili (înot), din Noua Zeelanda - cu care și-a luat "selfie YOG".
Toată lumea în prezență a fost apoi a cerut pentru a posta selfies lor de a #YOGselfie. "Prin trimiterea acestui selfie ... trimiteți un mesaj puternic în întreaga lume", a continuat președintele Bach. "Voi arata pasiunea pentru sport și pentru o concurență loială. Vi se demonstreze că sportul olimpic ajunge dincolo de concurență. Este, de asemenea, cu privire la partajarea, de învățare și de a face prieteni pe glob nostru.

How about an up close and personal interview with Lele ?
The mascot for the Second Youth Olympic Games was unveiled at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre on 29 November 2013.
The yuhua stone that inspired the creation of Lele quickly gained popularity among the public.
Kuang Daoqiu, Deputy Secretary-General of Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (NYOGOC) and Director of Marketing Department, said the Nanjing 2014 mascot arose from the profound cultural heritage of Nanjing and embodies local characteristics, which would become yet another introduction of Nanjing.
Mr. Kuang said the “birth” of the Nanjing 2014 mascot was the joint efforts of 1.2 million youth from across China and thanks them and everyone involved in the solicitation of the mascot.
