Simona Halep  va juca   finala   acestui  turneu  , dupa   ce  Serena Williams şi-a anunţat retragerea de la turneu. Conform site-ului oficial al turneului, americanca a acuzat dureri la genunchiul drept.

          Simona Halep became the first player into the final of the BNP Paribas Open, advancing when Serena Williams had to withdraw from their semifinal with a right knee injury.

Halep is now a win away from the first Premier Mandatory title of her career, which would be the biggest title of her career - before this, her biggest titles came at Premier 5-level events (the Qatar Total Open in Doha last year and the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships in Dubai this year).
