C.S. CONCORDIA CHIAJNA V. ROMANIAN
FOOTBALL FEDERATION – DECISION EXPECTED
BY 2 AUGUST 2013
Lausanne, 22 July 2013 - The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)
received a new request for provisional measures from C.S. Concordia
Chiajna on 19 July 2013. However, it was withdrawn today following an
agreement reached between the parties concerning the calendar for an
expedited procedure at the CAS.
Pursuant to the procedural calendar agreed by the parties and the CAS, a
hearing will take place on 31 July 2013 in Lausanne and the final decision will
be rendered by noon on 2 August 2013, at the latest.
The CAS recently registered the appeal filed by C.S. Concordia Chiajna against
the Romanian Football Federation (RFF). C.S. Concordia, which was ranked 15
in the Romanian Liga 1 last season and was the best of the 4 teams relegated
in Liga 2, alleges that FC Rapid Bucarest did not obtain the license to participate
in the Liga 1 for the present season and requests to be allowed to replace
FC Rapid in the Liga 1. Following a decision of the RFF, FC Rapid Bucharest
remained qualified for the next Liga 1 Championship following its victory in
a knock-out game against C.S. Concordia on 13 July 2013.
