          FIRST CASE FOR THE COURT OF  ARBITRATION FOR SPORT  (CAS) IN SOCHI

                 

       DANIELA BAUER (AUSTRIA) OBJECTS TO HER NON - SELECTION  FOR  THE  OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES 2014


     FOR THE  Sochi, 2 February 2014 – A few days after its opening, the ad hoc Division of the Court of Arbitration for  Sport (CAS) has registered its first case  in Sochi. This morning, the Austrian skier Daniela Bauer  (women’s ski halfpipe) filed an application at the CAS  ad hoc Division against the Austrian ski federation   (ASF) and the Austrian NOC.
   Daniela Bauer requests the CAS to order  the ASF and the Austrian NOC to place her in the Olympic team  to represent Austria in the women’s  freestyle ski halfpipe at the 2014 Olympic  Winter Games in Sochi.
She puts forward that she has met the FIS qualification requirements and that  a  quota place  was available  for her.
   A CAS Panel composed of Mr Patrick Lafranchi  (Switzerland), President, The Hon. Robert Décary  (Canada) and Prof. Matthew Mitten  (USA) has been constituted and will hold a hearing on Monday 3  February 2014.
A final decision is likely to be communicated  early on 4 February 2014
